These Terms & Conditions explain how PC Lincs Computer & Laptop Repairs provides computer and laptop repair services, including diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, virus removal, system servicing and related support.
By contacting us, requesting a quote, booking a repair, leaving a device with us, allowing us to inspect your device, or agreeing for us to carry out work, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Sections 29 to 35 below apply when you buy a physical product from our online shop.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
PC Lincs Computer & Laptop Repairs provides computer and laptop repair services in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.
Our services may include, but are not limited to:
We aim to provide clear, honest and practical advice before carrying out repair work.
Any quote or estimate we provide is based on the information available at the time.
Some faults cannot be fully confirmed until the device has been inspected or tested. If further faults are found during diagnostics or repair, we will explain the issue and provide an updated price before carrying out any additional chargeable work.
Quotes may include labour, replacement parts, collection, return, or other agreed costs where applicable.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 14 days.
In some cases, diagnostics may be required before we can confirm the fault or recommend a repair.
A diagnostic assessment may involve testing hardware, checking software, opening the device, checking internal components, running system tools, or testing replacement parts.
If a diagnostic fee applies, this will be explained before the diagnostic work begins.
Diagnostics are intended to identify faults as accurately as possible, but some intermittent faults may not appear during testing.
Some repairs require replacement parts to be ordered and fitted.
Where replacement parts are required, we will explain the likely cost and obtain your approval before ordering, unless you have already authorised us to proceed.
Replacement parts may include new, refurbished, used or compatible parts, depending on availability, suitability, cost and your preference. We will make reasonable efforts to explain the type of part being supplied before fitting it.
Once a replacement part has been ordered specifically for your device, cancellation may not always be possible if the part is custom, special order, non-returnable, or has already been fitted.
Where a part is faulty, we will deal with the issue in line with your statutory rights and any applicable supplier or manufacturer warranty.
We will not carry out chargeable repair work without your agreement.
Approval may be given in writing, by email, by text message, by phone, through a website enquiry, or in person.
By approving the work, you confirm that you want us to proceed with the repair, service, diagnostic assessment, upgrade or part order that has been discussed.
Payment is due when the agreed work has been completed, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
We may request payment before releasing the repaired device.
Where parts need to be ordered, we may request full or partial payment upfront before ordering the part.
Accepted payment methods may include bank transfer, cash, card payment or other agreed payment methods.
All prices will be clearly explained before work begins.
We aim to complete repairs as quickly as reasonably possible.
Any turnaround time given is an estimate only. Repair times can vary depending on the fault, device condition, part availability, supplier delays, testing requirements and workload.
We are not responsible for delays caused by third-party suppliers, postal services, courier services, manufacturer availability, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Devices may contain personal files, business files, passwords, photos, documents, emails or other sensitive information.
While we take reasonable care when handling devices, you are responsible for backing up your data before repair work begins.
We are not responsible for data loss unless caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
Some repairs, upgrades, virus removals, system resets or software repairs may involve a risk of data loss. Where this is likely, we will explain this before proceeding where reasonably possible.
We will not intentionally access, copy or share your personal files unless this is necessary to diagnose or resolve the issue, or you ask us to do so.
Some repairs may require login details, device passwords, administrator access, BIOS access, Microsoft account access or other relevant credentials.
You are responsible for providing accurate access details where needed.
We will only use access details for the purpose of carrying out the agreed repair or support work.
We recommend changing any temporary passwords after the repair has been completed.
We may provide virus removal, malware removal and security-related support.
We will take reasonable steps to remove detected threats and improve system security. However, no repair service can guarantee that a device will remain free from future viruses, malware, scams, phishing attempts, unsafe downloads or user-related security issues.
You are responsible for using safe browsing habits, keeping software updated, using suitable security software and avoiding suspicious links, downloads or attachments.
You are responsible for ensuring that any software, operating systems or licences used on your device are legal and valid.
We do not supply illegal, cracked, pirated or unauthorised software.
Where software needs to be reinstalled, activated or upgraded, you may need to provide valid licence keys, account details or proof of entitlement.
We are not responsible for issues caused by unsupported, expired, corrupted, pirated or incompatible software.
We will take reasonable care when recommending repairs, upgrades or replacement parts.
However, older devices may have limitations due to age, condition, design, manufacturer support, software compatibility or hardware availability.
An upgrade may improve performance, but we cannot guarantee that an older device will perform like a new device.
Where a device has multiple faults, repairing one fault may reveal another existing issue that was not apparent beforehand.
Where we carry out repair work, we will explain any warranty that applies to the labour or replacement parts.
Any repair warranty applies only to the specific work carried out and the specific part fitted, where applicable.
The warranty does not cover:
If the same issue returns within the agreed warranty period, please contact us as soon as possible so we can inspect the device.
If you ask us to fit a part supplied by you, we may agree to do so at our discretion.
We are not responsible for the quality, compatibility, reliability or warranty of customer-supplied parts.
If a customer-supplied part is faulty, incompatible or causes further issues, additional labour charges may apply.
Our warranty will only apply to our fitting work, not to the part itself.
You must collect or arrange return of your device within a reasonable time after being told the work is complete or that the device is ready for collection.
If a device is not collected within 30 days of us notifying you, we may contact you again using the details provided.
If a device remains uncollected for an extended period, we may charge reasonable storage fees or take further steps to recover our costs, where permitted by law.
Where collection or return is offered, this will be agreed with you before the booking.
You are responsible for ensuring the device is available at the agreed time and location.
We may refuse collection or return if we believe it is unsafe, impractical, outside our service area, or not as agreed.
You may cancel a booking by contacting us as soon as possible.
If you cancel before any work has started and before any parts have been ordered, there will usually be no charge.
If you cancel after diagnostics, repair work, collection, return, or part ordering has started, you may be charged for work already carried out, costs already incurred, or parts specifically ordered for your device.
Any cancellation charge will be reasonable and based on the actual work or costs incurred.
Refunds are considered in line with your statutory rights and the circumstances of the repair.
If we have supplied a faulty part or failed to carry out a service with reasonable care and skill, we will work with you to put the issue right.
This may include further inspection, repair, replacement, partial refund or another appropriate remedy, depending on the situation.
We do not offer refunds simply because you change your mind after agreed work has been completed correctly.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or removes your legal rights as a consumer.
Under UK consumer law, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods supplied must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.
If you believe there is a problem with the service or part supplied, please contact us so we can review the issue and respond appropriately.
If you are using our services on behalf of a business, company, organisation or commercial operation, you confirm that you have authority to agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Business customers may have different rights from consumers.
Unless agreed in writing, we are not liable for business interruption, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of contracts, loss of goodwill, or indirect losses.
We will always aim to provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
We are not liable for:

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
In addition to our repair and IT services, we sell physical products through our website, including custom-built desktop PCs and related items.
The following sections (29 to 35) apply whenever you buy a product from us. They sit alongside the services terms above and do not affect your statutory rights.
When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to buy a product from us.
After ordering, you will receive an acknowledgement confirming we have received your order. This acknowledgement does not in itself mean your order has been accepted.
A binding contract between us is formed only when we confirm that we have accepted your order, or when we make the product available for collection or arrange delivery, whichever happens first.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order, for example where:
If we decline or cancel an order you have already paid for, we will refund you in full.
We take care to describe our products and their specifications as accurately as possible.
Because many of our PCs are hand-built, individual components (such as specific brands or models of part) may occasionally be substituted for an equivalent or better part of the same or higher specification, where necessary due to stock availability. Where this would materially change what you ordered, we will contact you first.
Product images are for illustration. The appearance of a finished build may vary slightly from photographs.
All product prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.
We make every effort to ensure prices are accurate. If we discover a genuine pricing error on a product you have ordered, we will contact you before processing the order, and you may choose to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Payment for products is taken at the point of order through the payment methods shown at checkout, unless otherwise agreed.
Ownership of a product passes to you once we have received payment in full and the product has been collected by you or delivered to you.
Some of the PCs we sell are built to a standard specification and held as stock or built on demand. Others may be built to a bespoke specification at your request.
Where you order a PC built to your own bespoke specification (a specification we would not normally stock or offer as standard), this is treated as a made-to-order item. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the standard 14-day right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your personal specification.
We will always make it clear before you order whether an item is a standard build or a bespoke made-to-order build, so you understand your cancellation rights before you commit.
This does not affect your rights if a product is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality.
Products bought from our shop are provided in one of two ways, both free of charge:
We will agree a collection or drop-off time with you. For local drop-off, you are responsible for ensuring someone is available to receive the item at the agreed time and location.
Risk in the product (responsibility for loss or damage) passes to you once you collect it or once it is delivered to you. Full details are set out on our Delivery & Collection page.
Your rights to cancel an online product order, to return faulty goods, and the warranty that applies to PCs we build are set out in full on our Refund and Returns Policy page. In summary:
Please note: the refund position for services (Section 18) differs from the position for products bought online. Section 18 covers repair and service work; this section and the Refund and Returns Policy page cover products bought from our shop. Please read that page for the full detail and conditions.
Get in touch and we'll be happy to talk you through it.
